Morrison excels at M meet


NEW HAVEN — Stonington High’s Elizabeth Morrison placed in three events at the Class M indoor state track and field meet Friday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

Morrison was third in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 3 inches, more than a foot better than her qualifying performance.

Morrison finished tied for fourth in the high jump clearing 4-10.

Morrison, a senior who was an All-State performer in field hockey, placed fifth in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.46 seconds.

Tolland took first among the 30 teams that scored with 72 points. Weston was second with 633/4.

Morrison scored all of Stonington’s 93/4 points, which was good for 17th place.

New London had the best finish among the ECC schools at seventh with 23 points.

places fourth

NEW HAVEN — Stonington High’s 4x200 relay team placed fourth in the Class M meet Friday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

Matt Prue, Jason Curioso, Kyle Whalen and Ulysses Sepulveda combined for a time of 1 minutes, 38.8 seconds.

Stonington finished tied for 23rd with four points. New Fairfield was first with 60.

Ledyard had the best showing for an ECC school with 35 points, good for fourth place among the 25 teams that scored.
