  • Morrison places fifth in hurdles

    KINGSTON — Elizabeth Morrison placed fifth in the 55-meter high hurdles and eighth in the shot put to highlight the Stonington High girls’ indoor track and field team’s effort at the Rhody Classic Saturday at the University of Rhode Island.

    Morrison completed the hurdles in 9.25 seconds and threw the shot put 32 feet, 4 inches. No team scores were kept in the event.

    Two Stonington relay teams finished seventh. The 4x200B relay of Kenna McWilliams, Meg Rolfe, Casey Williams and Jennifer Sieczkiewicz ran a 55.40. The same four runners placed seventh in the 4x400 relay in 4:26.48.

    The Bears return to action 4 p.m. Friday at the Haddam-Killingworth Invitational at the Floyd Little Center at Hillhouse High, New Haven.

    Ryan 11th in shot put

    KINGSTON — Jake Ryan threw the shot put 39-7 for 11th place at the Rhody Classic Saturday.

    Stonington continues its season 4 p.m. Friday in the Haddam-Killingworth Invitational in New Haven.
