Competitive soccer: Westerly U-16 girls tie Martin Middle


EAST PROVIDENCE — Westerly’s under-16 competitive girls’ soccer team played Martin Middle to a 1-1 tie on Sunday.

Mallory Hall-Thompsen scored for Westerly, assisted by Clara Belucci.

Keeper Alyson Lamb, midfielders Kate Rosivach and Kora Lamb, and defender Marissa Trombino stood out for Westerly (0-2-1).

Hall-Thompsen also scored in a 4-1 loss to South County on April 19. Audra Arsenault assisted. Alisa Haik, Taylor Chettiar-Fiore and Christina Imbriglio also played well.

MIDDLETOWN — Ryan O’Donnell scored for Westerly, which lost for the first time after winning its first two games.

Zach Menard had an assist in Saturday’s game, which was scoreless at halftime.

Kyle Wicklund was in goal for Westerly.

WESTERLY — JP Gencarella scored the Westerly goal in Sunday’s game, assisted by Joseph Gervasini.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Sam Luzzi scored three goals for Westerly, one of which was assisted by Nathaniel Ober.

Midfielder Aiden Faubert and defender Luke Gencarella also played well for Westerly in Thursday’s game.

Westerly (0-3-1) lost to East Providence 5-0 Sunday. Forward Sammy Intrieri, and midfielders Sean Rafferty and Sam Luzzi performed well for the local team.
