Middle school: Bulldogs win again


NARRAGANSETT — Westerly Middle scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning to erase a 5-4 deficit and went on to beat Narragansett Pier 9-5 in a Southern Division baseball game Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (4-1, 3-0 Southern Division) won despite getting just five hits. Ben Bilotti had a double and a RBI and Brendan Clays had a single and two RBIs for Westerly.

Tommy Algier was the winning pitcher. He went all seven innings, allowing eight hits and five runs (four earned). He did not walk anyone and struck out six.

Matt Brissette, Austin Frink, James Pedersen and Ben Tripp each drove in a run for Westerly, which has a game today at Exeter-West Greenwich at 3:45 p.m.

Narragansett is 0-2, 0-2 Southern Division.
