Westerly gets victory against Curtis Corner


SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Taber Gates contributed 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Dave Tiedemann added 18 points to lead the Westerly Middle School boys’ basketball team over Curtis Corner, 58-50, Wednesday.

The victory lifts the Bulldogs to 10-6 overall and 8-6 in the division and clinches a playoff spot. Westerly trailed 12-2 early and 28-21 at halftime before using its press to rally for the victory in the third and fourth quarters.

The Bulldogs play host to Feinstein 3:45 p.m. today.

WESTERLY — Gabrielle Celico had six points, 11 rebounds and seven steals to pace Westerly in its loss to Curtis Corner Wednesday.

Victoria Carreiro added six points and four steals for Westerly (7-9). Natalie Ritacco had four points and eight rebounds, and Alex Mitchell contributed three steals and four rebounds.

Westerly plays 3:45 p.m. today at Feinstein.
