Chafee homers help Davis-Standard split


WESTERLY — Chip Chafee hit a pair of home runs helping Davis-Standard/Angie’s Pizza gain a split in its two Westerly Men’s Softball League games Friday against Lucky House/North End Social Club.

Chafee finished 3 for 4 in the second game, which Davis-Standard won 9-4. Davey Allen and Kyle Potter went 2 for 4 for Davis-Standard/Angie’s Pizza (5-13). Allen drove in two runs.

Gus Brucker and Paul Pappadia went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Lucky House/North End (12-6). Brucker hit a home run.

Brucker went 4 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs in Friday’s first game, which Lucky House/North End won 14-1. Teammate Bobby Fournier went 2 for 4, one of his hits being a three-run homer.

Bob Curioso was 2 for 2 with a run batted in for Davis-Standard.

McQuade’s/Brazen Hen .17

Pierce Heating/7-Eleven 10

Three players had three hits and McQuade’s Marketplace/The Brazen Hen (10-6) made a triple play in its win Friday. The team was down 7-2 in the bottom of the third inning when it made the triple play — third to second to first.

Mark Anderson was 3 for 3 with a double, Bud Allen was 3 for 4 with a double, and Andrew McCoy was 3 for 4, all singles. Anderson and McCoy drove in two runs and Allen had one RBI.

Scott Fricke missed hitting for the cycle by a single for Pierce Plumbing & Heating/7-Eleven (8-10). He hit an inside-the-park home run, a double and a triple in four at-bats. Kyle Antrim also was 3 for 4. He had a double and two RBIs.

James Gordon drove in nine runs in Friday’s mercy-rule game, homering twice in a 5 for 5 performance.

Matt Burns also went 5 for 5 as Apice Builders improved its record to 17-1. Burns drove in three runs. Ray Cormier went 4 for 4 with two doubles and five RBIs and Jeff Collins went 4 for 5.

United Builders Supply/Cally Club’s record fell to 7-9.

Aldo Trombino’s two-run single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Cleats Sports Club/EZ Midway Liquors to a win Thursday night. Trombino had tripled earlier in the game and finished the night 3 for 4.

Taylor Hallisey went 4 for 4 with a double and a RBI and Dave Tabor went 2 for 3 as Cleats/EZ hiked its record to 6-11.

Bob Curioso was 4 for 4 with 2 runs batted in for Davis-Standard/Angie’s Pizza and Pete Coleman was 2 for 3 with a double and a RBI.

Luke Raiche went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs as Danny’s Bar/The Haversham bettered its record to 14-4 on Thursday. Kyle Smith drove in two runs in a 2 for 4 game.

Kyle Potter and Bob Curioso each went 2 for 3 for Davis-Standard/Angie’s Pizza. Potter drove in a pair of runs and Curioso hit a two-bagger.

Lucky House/North End 23

Gus Brucker had a 5 for 5 game Thursday that included a home run, a double and 4 RBIs as Lucky House/North End Social Club (11-5) mercied Hilltop Cafe (12-6).

Aaron Bliven and Derek Vacca went 3 for 4 for the runaway winners. Vacca had a homer and a double and drove in five runs. Bliven homered, doubled and knocked in four.
