Blackstone tops WFP


BLACKSTONE, Mass. — Defending league champion Blackstone A’s scored the winning run with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th to beat White Fire Protection, 2-1, Saturday in a Rhode Island Independent Amateur Baseball League game.

Blackstone scored an unearned run in the first off starter Rich Pacino. He pitched five innings with no walks and two strikeouts. Pacino allowed seven hits.

WFP tied the game in the top of the sixth when Nate Cahoone singled home JJ Sorensen, who had singled earlier in the inning.

WFP reliever Mike Jason threw three scoreless innings and did not allow a hit. He struck out four and walked three.

The A’s scored the winning run off reliever Chris Anderson.

Andy Devereaux and Cam Newell both went 2 for 4 for WFP (13-6). Blackstone improved to 11-7.

WFP hosts Blackstone tonight at 7:30 at Cimalore Field.
