WESTERLY — The Rathskeller Hops scored five runs in the fifth inning and defeated White Fire Protection 15-5 Tuesday night in a Rhode Island Independent Amateur Baseball League game at Cimalore Field.
The game was tied at 5-5 before the big inning by the Hops (16-2).
WFP (12-5) scored four runs in the third to take a 4-0 lead. JJ Sorensen drove home Kyle Allen and Nick Benoit with a single. Andy Devereaux scored on a passed ball. Jon Gauvin had scored earlier in the innings on a bases-loaded walked. WFP had runners on second and third with no out, but could not push across any more runs in the inning.
Allen scored in the fifth inning on a fielder’s choice.
Rich Pacino took the loss in four relief innings. He allowe eight runs (four earned). Starter Kaelan Rayner left in the fourth inning after allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits with four strikeouts.
Sorensen was 4 for 5 and Allen 2 for 3.
