Auto Racing

■ Westerly’s Randy Johnston won his first X-Car race at the Waterford Speedbowl’s Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday races.

Johnston’s 435 points are good enough for second place in the Wednesday standings. Zach Thomas of New London leads the Wednesday X-Car standings with 468.

Road Race

Nick Celico set a new course record at the Tom McCoy Fun Run Wednesday in Misquamicut.

Celico finished the 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes and 41 seconds. Randi Burr was first for the women and completed the race in 20:13.

Tom Bousquet was second for the men (17:24) and Jeff Walker (17:57) was third.

Gabriella Celico was second among the women (21:38) and Jessica Orr was third (22:27).

Julia Mastrandrea had the fastest time in the girls’ 3/10 mile race with a 2:03. Olivia Roy was second (2:05) and Kaya West (2:10) was third.

Matthew Morrone was the first boy across the finish line with a 2:08. Billy DeCastro was second (2:09) and Will Sawin was third (2:10).
