  • Adult softball: Collins carries Apice Builders to 10th win

    WESTERLY — Jeff Collins homered and drove in five runs as Apice Builders earned its 10th win Friday night in the Westerly Men’s Softball League with a 15-4 victory against Hilltop Cafe at Craig Field.

    Tony Apice was 4 for 4 and Jason Collins finished 3 for 4. They each drove in a run for Apice (10-1).

    Earl Whitford hit a two-run homer for Hilltop (7-5).

    Mike Keemon drove in five runs and homered for McQuade’s Marketplace/The Brazen Hen (6-5).

    Keemon finished 3 for 5. Erik Lindewall was 5 for 5 with a triple and three RBIs. Ryan Hellert doubled and finished 3 for 4.

    Kyle Potter and Kyle Theadore finished with two hits each for Davis Standard (3-8). Potter tripled and drove in three runs, while Theadore had a RBI.

    Aaron Bliven finished with four hits, a pair of doubles, a triple and a RBI for Lucky House (6-5).

    Nick DeLauro drove in six runs, homered and went 3 for 4. Bobby Fournier was 3 for 4 with a homer and pair of RBIs.

    Frank Alviani finished 2 for 2 with a RBI for Watch Hill Garage (3-9).

    Taylor Hallisey finished 2 for 3 for Cleats.

    The game was ended by the mercy rule.

    Fra Gencarelli tripled and drove in four runs for UBS (7-4).

    Gencarelli contributed three hits. Chris Sammataro was 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.

    Phil Startz tripled, doubled and drove in three runs for Trivia Time (0-11).
