Adult softball: Blackout drops first game


WESTERLY — McQuades Marketplace/The Brazen Hen discovered the formula to defeat hard-hitting Blackout in the Westerly Men’s Softball League: Beat them in home-run derby.

Adam Falcone went 3 for 4 with a homer, triple and three RBIs, Jordan Novak was 3 for 4 with a homer and five RBIs and Mark Moniz was 2 for 4 with a homer and four RBIs to help McQuades beat Blackout, 23-16, Wednesday and give the first-place squad its first loss after 10 victories. McQuades improved to 5-5.

Ron Sposato went 4 for 4 with two homers and five RBIs and Chris Leday was 2 for 3 with a homer and two RBIs for Blackout.

Blackout bounced back after its first loss to improve to 11-1.

Sposato went 4 for 5 with a double, homer and eight RBIs. Leday was 3 for 5 with a homer, double and six RBIs. Kevin Maguire was 2 for 5 with a homer and three RBIs.

Affordable Furnishings .. 9

Joey Gencarelli was 4 for 4 with three RBIs to pace United Builders Supply’s victory.

Bob Eastwood went 3 for 4, and Chris Sammatro finished 3 for 5 with two doubles for United Builders Supply (6-4).

For Affordable Furnishings (3-9), Rich Scarpa went 3 for 4 with an RBI, and Luis Valdez was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI.
