Little League softball: Mystic/Groton stays unbeaten


EAST LYME — Allison Venditti singled twice and drove in two runs as the Mystic/Groton 11-12 softball All-Stars topped East Lyme 11-1 in the District 10 Little League tournament Friday night.

Allison Georgetti and Olivia Carney singled and drove in a run each for Groton/Mystic (2-0).

Abby Rogers and Olivia Travers also singled.

Aspen Ryan earned the win pitching all four innings and finishing with three strikeouts.

Groton/Mystic hosts Montville today at 5:30 p.m. at Washington Park.

PAWCATUCK — Montville used a pair of doubles in the top of the eighth to score two runs and topped Pawcatuck/North Stonington in the District 10 Little League 11-12 softball All-Star tournament Friday.

Pawcatuck/North Stonington held a 2-0 lead in the top of the sixth, but Montville scored two runs to tie the game and force extra innings.

Pawatuck/North Stoningotn pitcher Katie Sanford pitched all eight innings and finished with 15 strikeouts.

Brenna McNeil, Miranda Arruda, Tori Lopresto and Sanford each singled for Pawcatuck’s four hits.

Pawcatuck/North Stonington, which is 0-2 in the tournament, hosts East Lyme today at 5:30 p.m.
