WESTERLY — Sue Haik has been named the new Westerly High girls’ basketball coach.
She replaces Holly Misto. Last season, Misto and her staff of three assistants that included Haik, resigned the day before the team’s playoff game against North Kingstown.
Misto, who coached the Bulldogs for nine seasons compiling a 173-58 record, never talked about her resignation. She did issue several written statements that said significant and persistent interference from several parents that continued to escalate throughout the season led to her resignation on March 14.
Haik, a member of the Westerly High Hall of Fame, was appointed to the position by the School Committee Wednesday night.
