WOODSTOCK — Sam Foster tossed a one-hitter as the Ledyard-Pawcatuck Junior American Legion squad stayed unbeaten with a 14-0 win against Tri-Town Sunday night.
The game was halted after five innings by the mercy rule.
Foster struck out five as L-P improved to 3-0.
Dylan Wilkinson and Cale Gilbert each went 3 for 4. Wilkinson tripled and drove in four runs.
L-P hosts New London today at 5:30 at Stonington High for the start of a three-game series.
WEST WARWICK — Chris Anderson struck out eight and allowed just three hits as White Fire Protection beat Rockin Times Royals Sunday night at McCarthy Field in a Rhode Island Independent Amateur Baseball League game.
WFP (8-2) has won seven straight. Anderson allowed two unearned runs and walked just one batter to earn his first win. Kaelan Rayner earned the save with two hitless innings. He struck out four. The WFP pitching staff has a 0.96 ERA through 10 games.
WFP took the lead with four runs in the third. Jon Gauvin was hit by a pitch and Mike Jason walked. Rayner reached on a bunt. The throw was wide at first as Gauvin and Jason both scored and Rayner went to second. Nick Benoit walked and JJ Sorensen singled to load the bases with no outs.
Andy Devereaux followed with a sacrifice fly then Nate Cahoone contributed an RBI groundout to make it 4-0.
Sorensen was 3 for 4.
WFP is off until Sunday when it travels to the East Greenwich Coyotes for a 4:30 p.m. game.
