  • WFP extends win streak to six games

    WESTERLY — Rich Pacino limited the RI Avengers to just six hits helping White Fire Protection to a 7-2 win in the Rhode Island Independent Amateur Baseball League Saturday night at Cimalore Field.

    WFP (7-2) has won six straight.

    Pacino (2-1) pitched seven innings. Both runs scored off him were earned. He now has an ERA of 2.05.

    JJ Sorensen, Andy Devereaux, Nate Cahoone and Ben Rice finished with two hits each.

    Sorensen drove in two runs and stole a base. Devereaux doubled and scored twice. Cahoone drove in a pair of runs. Rice also drove in a run. Nick Benoit doubled and scored twice.

    WFP took a 2-0 lead in the third when Rice singled home Joey Baldini and Benoit scored on Sorensen fielder’s choice.

    WFP added a run in the third on a RBI single by Cahoone scoring Devereaux.

    In the eighth, Rice scored on a passed ball and Sorensen, who had double earlier in the inning, scored on a fielder’s choice by Tyler Newell. Devereaux scored later in the inning on a RBI single from Cahoone.

    Benoit doubled in the ninth and scored on a groundout by Sorensen.
