  • Cook’s grand slam gives Blackout another victory

    WESTERLY — Jerry Cook hit a walk-off grand slam to lead Blackout to a 15-11 win over Tony Apice Builders in a Westerly Men’s Softball League game Wednesday.

    Ron Sposato chipped in with two doubles and a run batted in and Mike Mongillo went 2 for 3 with three runs batted in for the winners, who improved to 8-0.

    Jeff Collins went 2 for 4 with a double and a solo home run in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 11-11 for Tony Apice Builers.

    Keegan Reed hit a three-run home run for Apice.

    Blackout........................ 24

    HiTech Meds.................. 2

    Blackout (7-0) won by the mercy rule in this crossover game against Hi-Tech Meds of the Stonington Recreation league.

    Matt Intreri went 2 for 2 with seven RBIs and a grand slam for Blackout. Ron Sposato had a 3 for 3 night with a double and a couple of runs batted in.

    Lucky House.................. 14

    McQuade’s/Brazen Hen. 13

    Aaron Bliven had a big day at the plate to help Lucky House to the win over McQuade’s Marketplace/Brazen Hen.

    Bliven doubled, homered and drove in five runs in the win. Jody Vacca added two singles, a home run and three RBIs for Lucky House (2-2).

    Mark Anderson went a perfect 4 for 4 with a couple of runs batted in for McQuade’s/Brazen Hen (3-3).

    STONINGTON MEN

    Hi-Tech Meds ..................15

    NLC Landscaping .............7

    STONINGTON — Hi-Tech Meds started out fast with a seven-run first inning Tuesday and went on to beat NLC Landscaping in Stonington Recreation men’s softball play.

    Marcus Buck went 4 for 4 with a run batted in for Hi-Tech (4-0). Eric Hoadley had three hits and drove in a couple of runs. Shane Richard went 2 for 3 with three RBIs.

    Mike Young led NLC (3-2) with three singles and a double. John Dettore drove in three runs.
