Chiaradio scores four as Westerly nips Waterford


WESTERLY — Westerly Area Youth Lacrosse’s under 13 girls’ team scored in the final seconds to edge Waterford 7-6 on May 28 at the Bradford Preserve.

Olivia Chiaradio scored four goals for Westerly. Kata Cummings, Abby Gibson and Maggie Richins finished with one goal each. Assists were credited to Molly Ridler, Isabel Huckel and Maggie Richins.

Ridler (one save) and Giana Caolo (two saves) shared goalie duties.

Westerly (5-4-1) lost to East Lyme 11-2 on Saturday. Cummings scored both goals with assists from Ashley Amato and Gibson.

Ridler and Colao played goal and finished with four saves each.

East Lyme....................... 15

Westerly U11 girls............. 6

WESTERLY — East Lyme scored 10 goals in the second half to pull away from Westerly.

Westerly only trailed 5-4 at the half.

Carly Chretien, Melanie Gomes and Diana Turano finished with two goals each for Westerly. Hannah Nicholson had the team’s only assist.

Samantha Snyder made three saves in the first half. Madilyn Rojas (one save) and Kasey Fiore-Chettiar (two saves) shared goalie duties in the second half.
