Men’s softball: Discordia, George pace Hilltop


WESTERLY — Brian Discordia went 4 for 4 with a homer and a triple helping Hilltop Cafe earn a 10-8 win Thursday in the Westerly Men’s Softball League.

Jed George also went 4 for 4 for Hilltop (3-0) in its win against Cleats Sports Club/EZ Liquors (2-2). George had three singles and a double and drove in a run. Discordia had two RBIs.

Nick O’Tenti went 4 for 4 with a triple for Cleats/EZ.

Dalton Solomon and Bobby Fournier homered and doubled Thursday as Lucky House notched its first win of the season. Solomon (2 for 3) drove in three runs and Fournier (2 for 3) knocked in two.

Aaron Bliven hit a three-run homer for the winners.

Affordable Furnishing’s record dropped to 1-2.

Danny’s Bar/Haversham .1

Brandon Fricke hit a pair of home runs and drove in four runs Wednesday as Pierce Plumbing and Heating/7-Eleven improved to 2-1. Fricke finished 4 for 4, his other hits being a double and a single.

Kyle Austin was 3 for 3 for the winners and Eric Piccolo was 2 for 3 for Danny’s Bar/The Haversham (1-3).

Trivia Time USA ..............9

Matt Intrieri (4 for 4) homered, doubled and singled twice as unbeaten Blackout won for the second time Wednesday and the fourth time of the season. Intrieri drove in four runs.

Andy Mongillo (3 for 4) had a triple, two singles and two RBIs for Blackout.

Trivia Time’s Jeremy Desoules and Phil Startz were 3 for 3 with a double. Desoules drove in two runs and Startz knocked in one.

Kevin McGuire and Matt Intrieri hit two-run home runs for Blackout.

Aldo Trombino (2 for 3) had a homer and two RBIs for Cleats Sports Club/EZ Liquors, and Jordan Olson (2 for 3) had a double and two runs batted in.

Jordan Olsen went 3 for 4 with a homer and a double and drove in three runs in Thursday’s Stoningotn Men’s Softball League game.

Vernon Moore hit a three-run homer and a single in four at-bats, and Glen Frey doubled and singled in two official trips to the plate.

Scott Edwards went 2 for 3 with a run batted in, and John Watt went 1 for 3 with two runs batted in for L & D, which trailed 11-0 after four innings.
