Youth soccer: Westerly surges past EG


EAST GREENWICH — Westerly U11 girls’ soccer team scored three goals in the second half to beat East Greenwich 3-2 on Sunday.

Westerly trailed 2-0 at the half.

Diana Turano scored two goals and Rachael Dobson had the other. Emma Keegan finished with two assists and Gian Keegan had one.

Others who played well were Madison O’Neal, Nina Cillino and Willa Hetu. Mackenzie Fusaro and Emma Keegan split time in goal.

WESTERLY — Five players score for Westerly in the win Sunday at the Soccer RI Festival.

Connor Cioffi, Elliot Danto Ryan Scanapieco, JP Gencarella and Joel Henry scored. Gencarella and Scanapieco had assists.

Luke Trebisacci excelled on defense and Dylan Fister played goalie.

Westerly also beat Warwick 3-2. Henry, Gencarella and Danto scored goals. Fister was in net again and Joseph Gervasini played well in defense.

East Greenwich.................5

WESTERLY — Sam Luzzi scored Westerly’s only goal in the loss Sunday.

Those named as outstanding players were Michael Imbriglio (keeper), Chas Morgan (midfield), Davide Allen (defender) and Blake Busch (defender).

Westerly dropped to 1-5-2.

Westerly lost to Chariho 3-2 on a game played May 22 in Charlestown at Ninigret Park.

Luzzi and Aiden Faubert scored the Westerly goals.

Imbriglio and Luzzi contributed one assist each. Other outstanding players were Nathaniel Ober (keeper), Chas Morgan (midfield) Allen (defender) and Sean Rafferty (defender).

Westerly is 1-4-2.

Ocean State.......................6

WESTERLY — Mallory Hall-Thomsen scored Westerly’s only goal in Sunday’s loss.

Others named as outstanding players were Adeline Fauth (keeper), Christina Imbriglio (defender), Kate Rosivach (midfield), Alisa Haik (midfield and Audra Arsenault (forward).

Westerly is 1-6-2.

Westerly also lost to North Smithfield 4-2 on May 25 at North Smithfield.

Macie Woycik and Imbriglio scored a goal each.

Meghan Morrone and Emily Sisco were credited with assists.

Other outstanding players were Fauth (midfield), Lauren Dobson (midfield), Rosivach (midfield) and Kora Lamb (defender).

Westerly U11 boys.............7

Middletown......................2

MIDDLETOWN — Joshua Bozek and Luke Gencarella scored two goals each for Westerly in Sunday’s win.

Cameron Jakob, Joseph Gencarelli and Aaron Healy contributed one goal each.

Jake Carter had two assists, while Aaron Healy, Cameron Jakob and Garrison Aldrich finished with one each.

Defensive standouts were Ben Luzzi, Joseph Guarnieri and Jacob Pereira.

Westerly finished 4-3-1.

North Kingstown............. 6

NORTH KINGSTOWN — Max Bertsch scored four goals and Jacob Gaccione added another in Sunday’s loss.
