Chariho roundup: Silvestri places first in 400.


PROVIDENCE — Chariho High’s Delaney Silvestri turned in her best time of the season taking first place in the 400 meters at the Mt. Pleasant Performance meet Saturday.

Silvestri covered the distance in 1 minute flat. She had run 1:00.80 earlier this season at the Southern Division meet (May 14) and the Class A meet (May 24).

Katerina Irwin was sixth in shot put at 29 feet, 4.5 inches.

Chariho is off until the state track meet on Saturday at Brown University Providence at 12:30 p.m.

BOYS’ TRACK

Leatham places

third in hurdles

WARWICK — Chariho High’s Max Leatham placed third in the 110 hurdles at the 50th annual Hendricken Invitational Saturday.

Leatham finished with a time of 15.1 seconds.

Cameron Richard placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 142 feet, 9 inches.

Chariho finished 16th among the 30 teams that scored with nine points.

The Chargers will compete in the state meet Saturday at Brown University in Providence starting at 12:30 p.m.
