Youth lacrosse: Menard scores four in tie against Waterford


WESTERLY — Alyssa Menard scored four goals as the Westerly Area Youth Lacrosse under 11 girls’ team tied Waterford 9-9 on Saturday at the Bradford Preserve Field.

Emma Harold contributed two goals, while Melanie Gomes, Anna Nyberg and Sara Ridler contributed one each.

Gomes also finished with two assists, while Cecelia Haase, Alyssa Menard and Ridler had one each.

Goalie Megan Huckle had three saves in the first half and Hannah Nicholson had two in the second half.

U13 GIRLS

MYSTIC — Westerly lost its first game of the season, falling to the Stonington Seals on Thursday, May 8.

Olivia Chiaradio, Samantha Cote, Caitlin Morrone and Carly McGill scored one goal apiece for Westerly.

Gianna Colao made four saves for Westerly and Molly Rider stopped two shots in goal.

WESTERLY — Melanie Gomes scored the only Westerly goal o at Bradford Preserve Field on Thursday.

Samantha Snyder played goal in the first half and made three saves. Megan Huckle made four saves in the second half and Hannah Nicholson made one save.

PORTSMOUTH — Jacklyn Fusaro scored twice and Madison O’Neal had two assists for Westerly on Saturday, May 10. Alexa Beal scored a goal and had an assist.

Diana Turano and Nina Cillino also played well for Westerly.

WESTERLY — Jacklyn Fusaro had two goals and an assist and Mackenzie Fusaro had two assists on Sunday, May 18.

Alexa Beal had a goal and an assist. Gia Keegan and Emma Keegan had one goal each. Rachael Dobson also had an assist.

Standout players were Willa Hetu and Madison O’Neal

PAWTUCKET — Jack Adams and Brett Mayne had two goals apiece in a game played Sunday, May 18. Kyle Wicklund, Greydon Aldrich, Jon Vetelino and Ronan Murphy also scored.

Zach Mendard and Lucas Gaccione had two assists. Wicklund, Ryan O’Donnell, Matthew Coskran and Joe Gilfert had one as Westerly improved its record to 3-3-1.
