Brouillette pitches no-hitter


NARRGANSETT — Westerly Middle’s Kate Brouillette pitched a five-inning no-hitter and helped her team to an 11-0 softball victory against Narragansett on Tuesday.

Brouillette struck out five and walked four as the game was stopped in the fifth inning by the mercy rule.

Maya Legare and Cassidy Northup had two singles each. Amanda Barrese tripled.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Sarah Dias struck out 10 batters and Lacey Baton hit a grand slam as the Chargers remained unbeaten after Tuesday’s victory.

Dias was 3 for 5 including a bases-clearing triple in the sixth. Baton hit her grand slam in the fifth. Caitlyn O’Leary was 3 for 5 and scored for times. Tyler Seltzer was 2 for 2.

WESTERLY — Westerly Middle scored six runs in the bottom of the second on its way to Tuesday’s win.

Taber Gates pitched five innings to earn the win. He struck out four. Gates drove in a run, walked twice and stole a pair of bases. Ben Tripp drove in a pair with a double. Westerly is 11-3, 9-2 Southern Division.
