  • Chariho’s LaBelle shuts out Bulldogs

    WOOD RIVER JCT. — Dylan LaBelle pitched a two-hit shutout to lead the Chariho Middle baseball team to a 2-0 victory over Westerly Thursday in Southern Division action.

    LaBelle walked five and struck out eight for Chariho (3-1, 3-1 Southern Division). Tom Algier pitched well in defeat, hurling six innings, allowing no earned runs, three hits and no walks while striking out eight.

    Algier and Taber Gates had the only hits for Westerly (6-2, 5-1 Southern Division). The Bulldogs resume action 3:30 p.m. Monday at home against Cole.

    Chariho plays at home against Wickford at 3:30 p.m. on April 29.

    SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Curtis Corner rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday to nip Westerly in a Southern Division game.

    Maya Lagare had two hits for Westerly (2-2, 2-2 Southern Division). Amanda Barrese and Cassidy Northup each doubled for the Bulldogs, who play next on April 29 at Davisville.

    Curtis Corner improves to 2-3 overall and in the division.
