PROVIDENCE — Westerly High junior Riyan Lennon won the long jump at the JV state championship meet Wednesday at Providence Career & Technical.
Lennon leaped 20 feet, ¼ inch, winning the event by 2¼ inches.
Lennon accounted for all 10 Westerly points. The Bulldogs finished in a three-way tie for 11th place. There were 24 schools that scored.
Andrew Ferrigno was the only point-getter for Chariho. A junior, Ferrigno finished fourth in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 56.32 seconds. The winning time was 2:54.02.
Chariho finished in a two-way tie for 19th place with four points.
Hendricken won the meet with 106 points. East Providence was second with 49.
