Tiedemann helps Bulldogs top Chariho

WESTERLY — Dave Tiedemann led all scorers with 23 points, helping Westerly Middle’s boys’ basketball team to a 66-58 Southern Division win over Chariho on Monday.

Westerly trailed 32-25 at the half but opened the third quarter with a full-court press and used a 9-0 run to take the lead. The Westerly lead was 49-39 by the time the third period ended. Tabor Gates finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds for Westerly. Kyle Wicklund added nine.

Westerly improves to 9-6 overall and 7-6 in the league.

Chariho falls to 4-9 in the Southern Division.

Westerly is at Curtis Corner on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.

WOOD RIVER JCT. — Natalie Ritacco had 10 points and four steals to lead Westerly to the Southern Division win on Monday.

Westerly overwhelmed Chariho in the first half and took a 28-8 lead into the break.

Lauren Dobson chipped in with 10 points for Westerly. Mia Capparelli had a strong all-around game with eight points, three steals and three rebounds.

Gabriella Celico contributed eight points and six rebounds. Isis Hamelin finished with eight points and three steals for the Bulldogs.

Westerly improved to 7-8 overall and 5-8 in league play.

The Bulldogs play their final home game of the season on Wednesday when the locals host unbeaten Curtis Corner at 3:45 p.m.

Chariho is 2-11 in the Southern Division.
