Westerly wrestlers dominate Riverside

EAST PROVIDENCE — The Westerly Middle’ wrestling team scored 60 of its 67 points on pins and forfeits as it cruised to a 67-15 win against Riverside Friday.

Sam Luzzi produced the fastest pin of the night for Westerly in 46 seconds at 70 pounds.

Ethan Kadar won by pin at 121 pounds in just 1:21. Raymond Hill won by pinfall 3:39 into his match at 133.

Jacob Schafer took just 54 seconds to pin his opponent at 140.

Kyle Roberts won his match at 170 pounds by pin in 2:40 and Shawn Moore won by pin in 2:57 at 185.

Dominic Bonanno won by major decision at 89 and Nayati Brown won by decision at 96.

Next up for Westerly is Ferri at home Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

WESTERLY — Curtis Corner topped Westerly Middle in a middle school boys’ basketball game Friday.

Curtis Corner led 27-25 at the half and 46-41 at the end of the third quarter.

Dave Tiedemann led Westerly with 19 points and Taber Gates added 18. Cole Riley contributed nine.

Westerly dropped to 8-5 overall and 6-5 in the league.

Westerly hosts Cole Middle on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m.
