St. Michael gets first

STONINGTON — The St. Michael boys won the Barber Invitational middle school cross country meet at the Pine Point School on Saturday.

St. Michael edged Mystic Middle 41-47. Pawcatuck Middle placed third (68 points), followed by Williams School (76) and Pine Point (150).

Chase Flynn led St. Michael, placing fourth with a time of 11 minutes, 33 seconds on the 1.8-mile course.

The other St. Michael scorers were Kyle Remmert (6th, 11:45), Nate Hennessey (7th, 12:00), Quinn McBride (9th, 12:22) and Andrew Castagliuolo (15th, 12:43).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Pawcatuck wins

Pawcatuck Middle won the three-team girls’ race with 37 points.

Mystic Middle was close behind with 40 points.

St. Michael placed third with 58. Williams and Pine Point did not have enough runners to score.

Abby Remmert led St. Michael, placing fifth in 12:53 on the 1.8-mile course.

Bridget and Rachel Kunka finished eighth and ninth, in 13:17 and 13:20. Grace Kane was 17th (13:45) and Yiyi Courtney was 19th (13:51).
