PAWTUCKET — The Stonington Pee Wee Bears lost 26-7 to the Warwick Patriots in an Ocean State Pop Warner Football League playoff semifinal game on Sunday.
The Patriots had beaten the Bears 39-6 in a regular-season game on Oct. 20.
Third-seeded Stonington (5-4) was eliminated. Second-seeded Warwick advances to the Super Bowl on Sunday.
The Bears scored on the first play of the second quarter on a 4-yard run by Marquis Jackson on a wedge play. The Bears went up 7-0 when Jackson made a conversion run on the same play up the middle.
The Patriots responded with three touchdowns in the quarter to take a 19-7 halftime lead.
The Bear defense stiffened in the second half, led by Alexander Riemann (end/linebacker), Aliza Bell (safety/noseguard), Riley Burnside (cornerback/safety), Noah Hertlein (tackle) and Charlie Bresnahan (end/linebacker).
Jackson totaled 50 yards rushing. He also caught a 15-yard pass from Burnside in the Bears’ scoring drive.
In another semifinal game on Sunday, the third-seeded Stonington Junior Midgets lost 20-14 to the second-seeded North Kingstown Jaguars. Details were not available.
Super Bowl matchups
The league Super Bowls will be held Sunday at Stonington High’s new turf field.
North Kingstown and Warwick will face off in all three Super Bowls.
The Junior Pee Wees will play at 10 a.m. The Pee Wees’ will begin at noon. The Junior Midgets will follow at a time to be determined, either 2 or 3:30 p.m.
