  • Morgan helps Lions defeat Sayles School

    NORTH STONINGTON — Emma Morgan scored two goals and asssted another helping Wheeler Middle’s girls’ soccer team defeat Sayles School 4-1 on Wednesday.

    Gracie Anderson also scored a pair of goals for the Lions, who improved to 3-2.

    Kendra Perez had an assist and goalie Savannah Galluci made seven saves.

    Wheeler’s next game is Monday at home against Sterling Memorial at 4 p.m.

    PRESTON — Nate Cherenzia scored three goals and Jack Kinard tallied twice as Wheeler improved its record to 6-1 with Wednesday’s win. Cherenzia also had two assists.

    Ryan Condon had a goal and an assist for the Lions, who led 3-0 at halftime. Kody Lewis and Chris Orr scored once, and Seth Jones had an assist.

    Ian Spracklin and Lewis combined for eight saves for Wheeler, which is off until this coming Wednesday wshen it plays at Sterling Central at 4 p.m.
