NFA keeps Bears reeling

NORWICH — Francis Lee scored two goals to power NFA to a 5-0 victory against Stonington in an ECC out of division boys’ soccer game Monday.

NFA led 3-0 at halftime.

The loss drops the Bears to 6-3-1 and ends a brutal three-game stretch against the ECC’s best teams. Stonington came into this game off of shutout losses to Waterford, 4-0, and Montville, 2-0, last week.

NFA, the Large Division leader at 4-0-1, improved to 7-1-1 — the second best record only behind Waterford among ECC teams.

The Wildcats outshot the Bears 13-5, and held a 7-1 edge in penalty corners. Steve Zelepos and Will Iorio combined to make eight saves in goal for Stonington, which return home 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to face Plainfield.
