LEDYARD — Ryan Holloway ran in a conversion with just over a minute left and the Westerly Seniors held off Ledyard to take a 26-25 win against the Colonels Saturday night in a Southern New England Youth Football Conference game.
Holloway’s conversion run came over the left side after a 27-yard TD run up the middle by Jacob Shafer with 1:09 left.
Ledyard struck back with a 55-yard pass as Shafer made a touchdown-saving tackle. Ledyard had the ball at the Westerly 8-yard line with 48 seconds left when defensive end Kyle Roberts recovered a fumble to seal the win.
Westerly (5-2) trailed 13-12 at the half.
Junie Rios scored Westerly’s first TD on a 2-yard run over the left side behind guard Sage Quattromani and tackle Taylor Bernardoni.
Holloway scored on a 10-yard run behind center Victor Gervasini in the second quarter to make it 12-6.
In the fourth quarter, Jalen Valentin scored on a 4-yard run and ran in the conversion behind Katarina Whewell and Spencer Terranova to leave the Bulldogs trailing 25-19.
Shawn Moore and Holloway had fumble recoveries.
Ledyard dropped to 5-2. Westerly hosts New London on Saturday at 8 p.m.
LEDYARD — C.J. Scott scored a pair of touchdowns as Westerly topped Ledyard Saturday night.
Scott scored on a 25-yard pass from Austin Frink in the first quarter and a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Frink scored Westerly’s other TD on a 2-yard run in the third quarter. Scott ran in the conversion on Frink’s TD.
Westerly led 7-6 at the half.
Pete Fusaro also had a conversion run for the Bulldogs. Rocco Cillino intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Defensive ends Isaiah Plourde and Dylan Doucette were involved in a number of tackles. Offensive lineman Derek Mason and Nick Lauzon also played well for the Bulldogs.
Westerly (5-2) hosts New London on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Ledyard dropped to 2-5.
LEDYARD — Ledyard scored a pair of touchdowns in the second half to pull away for the win on Saturday.
Jawarie Hamelin finished with 11 tackles, one of them for a loss and also intercepted a pass. Luke Gencarella contributed five tackles, three for a loss. Xavier Ledbetter, Dawson Barrese and Nick Turo also made a pair of tackles each behind the line of scrimmage.
Westerly (2-5) hosts New London on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Ledyard improved to 5-2.
