Cherenzia helps Lions win debut


NORTH STONINGTON — Wheeler Middle opened its boys’ soccer season Tuesday with a 7-0 victory against Sayles School.

Nate Cherenzia scored three goals including two in the first half which ended with Wheeler in front 3-0.

Ryan Condon scored the game’s first goal. Issac Wilkinson, Chris Orr and Seth Jones scored in the second half.

Condon had three assists. Kody Lewis had two and Cherenzia had one.

Wheeler took 28 shots. Ian Spracklin and Lewis combined for three saves in goal.

Wheeler’s next game is today at Salem School, at 4 p.m.
