RUNNING

The Surftown Half Marathon, hosted by the Hartford Marathon Foundation, returns to Misquamicut this year with a new 5K run added to the weekend’s events. The races take place on Sunday, Sept. 15. The races are part of the Misquamicut Fallfest Weekend and participants receive free entry to the festival with their race bibs. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. For more information or to register visit HartfordMarathon.com.

CURLING

 Registration for the Ocean State Curling Club is open. Registration is effective upon receipt of payment and must be received by Sept. 30 to qualify for the discounted rate. Registration dues are increased after Sept. 30. Visit oceanstatecurling.org to register, space is limited. Email questions to osccmembership@gmail.com.

AUTO RACING

 Westerly’s Randy Johnston paced 13th in the X-Car Division race at Wednesday’s Wild ‘n’ Wacky event held at the Waterford Speedbowl. John Bowes of Willington, Conn. won the 25-lap feature and Larry Loomis Jr. of Moosup ran second. Johnston stood in ninth place in the standings after Wednesday’s action.
