  • Chariho Juniors advance

    HOPE VALLEY — Chariho’s Junior All-Stars advanced to the winners’ bracket finals of the District 3 Little League baseball tournament with a 10-0 victory against North Kingstown Sunday at Dow Field.

    Dan Labelle was the winning pitcher striking out six and only allowing three hits in four innings.

    Chariho (2-0) scored four runs in the second and five in the fourth to pull away for the win.

    In the fourth, Drew Anderson walked with two outs and went to second on a Joey Beauchemin single. Anderson scored on a Mason Lamont single. Erin Nunes followed with a two-run single scoring Beauchemin and Lamont. Dustin Jarrett then singled in Nunes. Jarrett scored the final run on a single to right by Andrew Deangelis.

    In the second inning. Labelle hit a two-run single to right center field bringing home Matt Amaral and Alex Picozzi. Lamont then singled home Bryan Apice and Labelle.

    A.J. Gemma scored on a Nunes sacrifice fly in the first.

    Chariho will play either Exeter-West Greenwich or South Kingstown American on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. A site has not been determined. The winner will be the only unbeaten team remaining in the tournament.
