WESTERLY — Matt Coskran bent in a corner kick to lift Westerly High into a 1-1 tie with Mount Pleasant in a Division II boys soccer game Saturday night.

Coskran’s goal came with about three minutes remaining in the second half and ended a two-game scoreless streak for the Bulldogs (4-6-1, 4-6-1 Division II).

“We played well for the [final] 11 minutes,” coach Brian Williams said. “We had a couple of good opportunities that gave us a spark. ... For 11 minutes we played how we can play.”

One of those opportunities was a header by Brett Mayne that was punched away by Kilties keeper Sebastian Sosa.

Mount Pleasant (2-5-2, 2-5-2) had taken a 1-0 lead at the 34-minute mark of the first half.

The Bulldogs finished with a 16-12 edge in shots on goal. Each team had three corner kicks. Westerly goalie Spencer Bernat made 11 saves.

Next, the Bulldogs travel to Mount Hope on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game.
