NECBL: Schooners fall on road to Bay Sox in 10 innings, 5-4

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. ­— Corey Joyce singled home Cody Doyle with nobody out in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the New Bedford Bay Sox over the Mystic Schooners, 5-4, on Friday night in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.

The Schooners (0-2) had taken a 4-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning, scoring twice on back-to-back RBI doubles by Nick Mascelli (Wagner College) and John Trousdale (Alabama). But the Bay Sox (2-1) responded with two runs in their half of the seventh to tie it before winning in the 10th.

Mascelli finished 3 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs. Andruw Gazzola (Stony Brook) added two hits and two runs scored.

Relief pitcher Dan Rajkowski (UConn) took the loss for Mystic, allowing one run on two hits and a walk in the 10th. Starter Robert Potter (Alabama) went five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out seven.
