    Westerly gets win against Chargers

    WOOD RIVER JCT. — Despite the absence of three regular wrestlers, the Westerly Middle wrestling team still managed a 42-33 win against Chariho Tuesday.

    Nick Turo, Brady Holdredge and Max Davis all missed Tuesday’s match.

    Sam Luzzi won his match by pin at 75 pounds, Jacob Schafer pinned his opponent at 140,

    Spencer Terranova won by pin at 159 and Kyle Roberts pinned his opponent at 170.

    Nayati Brown at 96 and Raymond Hill at 133 each won by decision.

    Westerly next wrestles at Riverside Middle Thursday at 3:45 p.m.

    WESTERLY — Westerly Middle used six pins to earn the win on Friday night.

    Those winning by pin were Brady Holdredge, (104, 40 seconds), Ethan Kadar (112, 22 seconds), Dominic Johnson (126, 1:11), Jacob Schafer (140, 39 seconds), Ryan O’Donnel (148, 4:02),

    Those winning by decisions were Dominic Bonanno (82 pounds) and Raul Santiago (119).

    Those winning by forfeit were Spencer Terranova (159), Kyle Roberts (170), Max Davis (200) and Ryan Rougier (heavyweight).

    Westerly travels to Riverside Friday for a 3:45 p.m. match.

    NARRAGANSETT — Victoria Carreiro scored eight points and Kate Brouillette added five as Westerly beat Narragansett Tuesday.

    Carreiro also came up with six steals and Brouillette contributed four rebounds.

    Megan Albamonti finished with five points and four steals.

    Sixth-grader Julia Garro had six rebounds and two steals.

    Westerly (6-5) hosts Wickford on Thursday at 3:45 p.m.

    BOYS’ BASKETBALL

    Narragansett................. 84

    Westerly......................... 38

    WESTERLY — Unbeaten Narragansett outscored Westerly Middle by 17 points in the first quarter and beat the Bulldogs Tuesday.

    Narragansett led 26-9 at the end of the first quarter and 54-17 at the half.

    Dave Tiedemann finished with 11 points for Westerly and Jalen Valentin added eight.

    Narragansett is 12-0, while Westerly dropped to 8-3, 6-3 in the league.

    Westerly travels to Wickford Thursday for a 3:30 p.m. game.
