Gencarelli gets 2nd in 3,200


KINGSTON — Stephen Gencarelli finished second in the 3,200-meter run and ran a leg on the third-place 4x800 relay team for the Chariho High boys’ track and field team in the Rhody Classic Saturday at the University of Rhode Island.

Gencarelli ran the 3,200 in 10:23.48. He teamed with Jung Kim, Mitch Carrier and Andrew Sardelli for the third-place finish in the 4x800 in 8:46.12.

Max Leatham finished fifth in the 55-meter high hurdles in 8.27. Kyle Kirby tied for fourth in the high jump at 6 feet.

Carrier added a sixth place in the 1,600 with a time of 4:43.36.

The Chargers return to action at the East Coast Invitation Friday and Saturday at the Providence Career& Technical Academy at times to be announced.

Baker keys Chargers

at Rhody Classic

KINGSTON — Isabel Baker placed eighth in the 1,000-meter run and ninth in the 1,600 meters at the Rhody Classic Saturday.

Baker ran the 1,000 in 3:20.84. She covered the 1,600 in 5:37.06. Delaney Silvestri finished fifth in the 300-meter run in 43.78,

The Chargers resume regular-season meet action 5:30 p.m. Tuesday against Central, St. Raphael Academy, Tolman and Shea at the Providence Career & Technical Academy.
