EAST PROVIDENCE — Josh Merritt and T.J. Lamphear each won both of their matches and the Chariho High wrestling team split its four dual-meet matches Saturday.
The Chargers (3-3, 1-3 Division I-South) won their matches against Division II opponents Hope (67-9) and Smithfield (60-24), but lost its two crossover matches against Division I-North teams East Providence (54-22) and South Kingstown (54-16).
Merritt won both of his matches at 106 pounds by decision and Lamphear won his two matches at 120 by pin.
Both wrestlers picked up forfeit wins in their other two matches.
James Costigan went 2-1 with two pinfall victories at heavyweight.
Josh Monteiro at 132 and Regan Beaudreau at 182 both posted 2-2 marks and Beaudreau also had two pins.
Tyler Chatell and Zack Sposato each had one pin victory at 170 and 195, respectively. Justin Krupinski won one match at 138.
Chariho next wrestles at the Chad Antoch Tournament Saturday at Westerly.

Gencarelli fourth in 3,000
PROVIDENCE — Stephen Gencarelli’s fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run was the highest finish for Chariho High at the Rhode Island Classic Saturday.
Gencarelli finished the race in 9 minutes, 31.04 seconds at the Providence Career & Technical Academy.
Gencarelli, Alden Andrea, Mitch Carrier and Kahekee Northup took fifth place in the distance medley relay with an 11:23.79.
Andrew Ferrigno, Carrier, Andrea and Andrew Sardelli combined for a sixth-place finish in the 4x800 relay with an 8:45.06.
Chariho does not compete again until Friday, Jan. 24 when it faces Exeter-West Greenwich and Lincoln at 5:30 p.m. in Providence.
