Letter: Tolls just another way for South County to fund rest of state

As most people know, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation is erecting the first two truck toll gantries on either side of the Route 138 exits in Richmond where I live. The Statehouse looks at South County as a money pit.

Each year they reapportion more tax money from South County to the bankrupt, but still overspending sanctuary cities in northern Rhode Island. We are like serfs serving the kingdom.

It's only fitting that we get the first tolls in Rhode Island. Once all the tolls are in place and fully operational, the tolling will then be applied to auto and motorcycle traffic because of certain cost overruns. Any state aid to the regional school system will continue to be reduced, but the cost of everything is going up.

We need to hold these politicians accountable and we need to join all sides in South County together as one strong group to do so.
