Letter: Questioning The New York Times’ editorial decision

A couple of weeks ago various news outlets complained that President Trump's attacks on the press (fake news) were causing some people to not believe what they read or heard in the news.

As the newspaper industry began to fall on hard times because of social media and the internet, I have often expressed my feelings about how important a responsible honest free press is to our country.

Now, here comes The New York Times, the “Gray Lady,” publishing an “anonymous op-ed” which allegedly was written by a high-ranking official in the Trump Administration. If it is true, it is a cowardly example of disloyalty by a person who is best described as a weak-kneed wimp!

The participation of The New York Times in publishing the “anonymous op-ed” will only degrade the public’s confidence in the integrity of the press. In my opinion others in the industry who refer to The New York Times as the “Gray Lady” are making a mistake. They should refer to the newspaper as the gray whore!
