I have spent nearly my entire life in the village of Pawcatuck. I am voting for Chris Donahue, in the Aug. 14 Democratic primary because I think he will do a terrific job representing us in Hartford. He exemplified this at the recent debate in North Stonington and the hours he has spent on the campaign trail. I think after 50-plus years of being represented by people from the district’s other villages, it is time for our largest village, Pawcatuck, to field our first state representative since Howard Crouch (way back in the 1960s).
We have dutifully supported a legislator from North Stonington for the past 18 years, one from Stonington Borough (Rob Simmons) for 10 years, one from Mystic (Rufus Allyn), and two others from Stonington Borough environs (Frank Turek and Rodney Johnstone) along with Morgan McGuire from North Stonington for a few years. Some have represented Stonington and North Stonington well, but sometimes Pawcatuck never got the attention it deserved. Chris has promised to represent all the people from all of the villages in both towns.
After 50 years it seems only fair that Pawcatuck send a representative to Hartford. Not only is it time, it is overdue! Vote for Chris Donahue!
