Sharon Ahern worked with two town managers, and did so with professionalism and skill. Her role was not to work in the limelight or needing headlights. She was efficient, focused and dedicated to the tasks she was given to perform for the town of Westerly.
Certainly our new town manager, Michelle Buck, has every right to shape her administrative functions as she wishes. However, it was poor judgment not to inform all the town council members of her decision to let a senior member of her staff go. Hence, we read quite a bit in the paper regarding Sharon’s departure that was unnecessary and hurtful.
This matter could and should have been handled by all the members of the town council and Michelle Buck with more skill.
