Glacier-sized problems have something in common

Your Aug. 25 global warming cartoon (make no mistake, global warming is no laughing matter) was well placed on top of an op-ed “Health industry’s big players focus on one thing: Profits,” which really pinpoints our problems in mitigating (solving is way too ambitious a word) these two glacier-sized problems: Profits! The cartoon shows the far ranging polar bear meandering upon the Global Warming Deniers Club meeting with empty pockets, which will get the polar bear nowhere.

Can we say (the Republican controlled) Congress, which currently “enjoys” a 17 percent approval rating and no doubt occupies front row seats at the fictitious (?) Global Warming Deniers Club meeting depicted in the cartoon, has misplaced priorities voting for the 40th time to repeal Obamacare at a per vote cost estimated to cost taxpayers (you and me) at $1.45 million per vote? Their obsession with the “if at first you don’t succeed” concept could be admirable but when applied to their 4-year-old strategy to make President Obama a one-term president, it makes them look equal parts funny and pathetic.
