In this day in age, it seems that most letters to the editor criticize one political party or the other, with few letters taking the time to thank others for a job well done, or offer a sincere thanks of gratitude. This is the latter, and I need to give a few heartfelt thanks.
I was recently back home in Charlestown in order to celebrate the 40th wedding anniversary of my parents, Gail and Forrester C. Safford. We celebrated this event with a room full of loving family and friends at the Wilcox Tavern. I would like to thank Susan from the Wilcox for helping me plan the party (since January), and being there to tell me not worry about anything. She assured me everything would go great — and it did. I would also like to thank the Wilcox Tavern’s chef, Chris Oliveri, for excellent food that came out in a timely manner, was cooked to the specifications of the individual guests and had a ton of flavor. When dealing with a party of almost 40 people a lot can happen … great food and a wonderful time in a relaxing setting is what happened for our party.
I also need to thank the anonymous person who left a note on my vehicle window thanking me for my military service.
Thank you, whomever you are, for taking the time out of your day to put that note in my window — know that it will always be in my vehicle’s visor as a reminder that people do care.
Finally, I want to thank my parents for being who they have always been to me — great parents. I had such a fun, albeit stressful, time planning your surprise party from down in Virginia; however, the smiles on your faces when you saw our family and friends waiting for you at the Wilcox Tavern made it all worthwhile. I love you guys.
