What a wonderful front-page photo of Sen. Dennis Algiere challenging the velocipede in order to draw attention to the upcoming Treasures Through Time exhibit at the Westerly Library. I love the excitement that Nancy Burns-Fusaro created about some of the library’s artifacts which are coming out of hiding, but she gave me way too much credit.

I want to acknowledge the committee members who, for the past year, have given their all to this project from digging around in local history files, to climbing around in a dark attic, to drafting and redrafting write-ups, to removing nearly a century’s worth of dust and grime and making things shine.

Bob Benson, co-chair, Jane Abrams, Maria Bernier, Barbara Fallon, Blanche Higgins, Lido and Helen Mochetti, Charlene Senical, Bruce Titterington, Mary Weiss and the library staff certainly deserve the credit, not me.

The exhibit opens on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 5 p.m., and I promise that we will all be wearing big smiles and clean clothes.
