  • Head Start Program accepting new students

    WESTERLY — South County Community Action Head Start Program is currently accepting children for a free preschool program for the 2014-2015 program year. The program serves families with children ages 3 to 5, including children with special needs. Children and families enrolled in Head Start receive services in the areas of education, parent involvement, health, nutrition, social services and mental health.

    Children in foster care, children of families receiving Family Independence Program or Supplemental Security Income and children of homeless families are automatically eligible. In order to qualify, the following guidelines must be met:

    • Child must be between the ages of 3 and 5.

    • Family must meet income guidelines.

    • Family must reside in the following towns: Westerly, Charlestown, Exeter, Richmond, Hopkinton, West Greenwich, New Shoreham, North Kingstown, South Kingstown and Narragansett.
