WESTERLY — Westerly police on Tuesday arrested a 16-year-old high school student and two younger boys on theft charges. They are accused of stealing a small amount of cash and personal belongings that had been left behind in the Westerly High School auditorium during the Westerly-Chariho football game on Friday night.

They were charged with one count each of conspiracy to commit larceny. The two younger juveniles were also charged with nine counts each of larceny under $1,500. Identifying details about the three boys were not disclosed.

Westerly Police Chief Richard Silva said Wednesday that several people reported the thefts after the game. There were at least nine victims, the police said.

Silva said it hasn’t been decided whether the juveniles would be presented as offenders to a juvenile hearing board, or turned over to Rhode Island Family Court.

“There are a lot of variables when dealing with juveniles, especially when they are younger,” he said.
