WESTERLY — Tri-County Community Action Agency will offer a paid Summer Youth Career Exploration Program this summer for young adults ages 14 through 24 from Westerly. The six-week program, funded with a $180,000 grant from the Workforce Partnership of Greater Rhode Island, will begin on July 10 and feature career exploration, job shadow experiences, and field trips. It will enroll 150 young people from Westerly, North Kingstown, and North Providence. A week of classroom sessions will be followed by the job shadowing at local businesses and agencies. Each participant will also work with case managers and career counselors to relieve any barriers to work, such as transportation, or unstable housing.

In addition to career exploration, guest speakers, field trips, projects, and discussions will be devoted to life skills. Participants will receive a weekly stipend based on attendance and participation. For more information, call Gina Giraldo at 401-519-1909.
