Police nab robbery suspect


STONINGTON — Police have apprehended a suspect in the attempted overnight robbery of A&P Liquors in Mystic.

A second suspect remains at large.

Delonte J. Stevenson, 21, of 5126 Hanna Place, Washington, D.C., has been charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief and fifth-degree intent to commit larceny. He is being held on $500,000 bond.

According to a statement by Capt. Jerry Desmond, Stonington police dispatch received a call from an alarm activation at A&P Liquors, 25 Broadway Ave., and officers responding found two suspects in the store.

One was captured and the other fled.

The detective division responded to the scene and continues to investigate.

Desmond commended the patrol officers for their quick response and their on-the-scene arrest.
